Science
At Michaelchurch Escley Primary School, our science curriculum is guided by the White Rose Science framework, designed to foster a love for discovery and a deep understanding of the natural world. We focus on developing inquisitive young minds by nurturing curiosity, encouraging hands-on learning, and building key scientific skills.
Our approach allows us to provide a structured, coherent curriculum that builds knowledge progressively from one year to the next. It emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning. Students engage in experiments, investigations, and observations, giving them the opportunity to explore and understand key concepts in biology, chemistry, and physics. It is broken down into easily digestible chunks or learning for the children.
We ensure that all topics are taught in a way that is clear, consistent, and engaging. Our curriculum is aligned with the national curriculum and helps our students build a strong foundation of knowledge, working scientifically and skills. Topics are revisited regularly, ensuring knowledge is retained and deepened, giving children confidence in their abilities as budding scientists.
Ultimately, our aim is to spark curiosity about the world and equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand and question the scientific principles at play in everyday life.
