Key Areas of Focus
Range of Sporting Experiences
We are committed to broadening our pupils’ sporting experiences by introducing them to a variety of new and exciting sports. These may include everything from tag rugby and tennis to more unusual activities like climbing, golf or archery. This approach ensures that every child can find a sport they enjoy and succeed in, promoting lifelong engagement with physical activity.
Swimming
One of the unique features of our sports provision is our in-house trained swimming teachers, allowing us to offer high-quality swimming lessons. We believe that swimming is a vital life skill, and our children benefit from regular swimming sessions. These lessons not only help children become confident swimmers but also emphasise water safety, an essential part of living in rural areas with many natural water features.
Sporting Competitions
At Michaelchurch Escley, we actively participate in local sporting competitions and tournaments, giving our pupils the chance to compete and represent the school. These experiences help to build self-esteem and teach children the value of teamwork, discipline, and fair play. Whether it’s cross-country, football, or athletics, we encourage all children to take part and do their best.
Outdoor Activities
Our strong outdoor ethos extends into our sports provision. We make the most of our rural location by incorporating outdoor sports and physical activities that connect children with nature. From cross-country running in our beautiful surroundings to outdoor adventure challenges, we use the outdoors to inspire children to be active in a fun and engaging way.
Real-Life Experiences
We believe in the power of real-life experiences to enrich our sports curriculum. This includes attending local sporting events, bringing in guest coaches, and organising outdoor activity days. These experiences not only improve physical skills but also inspire children to set personal goals and develop a positive attitude toward physical challenges.
